WHAT'S YOUR E?Employed, Enrolled or Enlisted
The goal is to ensure that prior to graduation, every student in Shelby County has committed to either: Employment at a local company, Enrollment in a 2 or 4-year college or Enlistment in the military. Each E is to be equally honored, respected, and given equal consideration. As we all know, college is not the only option for success. The 3E program intends to initiate student focus and parental conversations about the child’s future and help them determine which E will help them accomplish their goals. Whatever E is chosen, our community is excited for you and your bright future!
MEET OUR CAREER COACH
Workforce Partnership and the Shelby County United Way have partnered together to create a Career Coach program available to high school seniors whose post-graduation plans are to directly enter the workforce. This program will provide students individualized support that focuses on workforce readiness while identifying local jobs that align with their personal goals and skills & aptitudes. This program aims to retain local talent and establish them in a direction that can lead to lifelong success. Kelly Edwards fills the role of Career Coach and works closely with guidance counselors and local Workforce Partnership businesses to assess the current job market and connect students to opportunities. The Career Coach is a valuable tool available to help students find full-time employment with a living wage and benefits that will help them build a strong foundation for their future success. The United Way contributes $15,000 annually to support this programming. Their investment is to create change in Shelby County’s Workforce that will impact future generations. For more information regarding this program please see your guidance counselor.
“Kelly was a great help, made everything really easy. I told her I had an interest in working with my hands, working with tools and equipment. She helped me find Lochard, find this opportunity and move forward to start working there.”
